Arpeggio   •   Cortona, Italy

Arpeggio is a heritage arts hub located in the area of Piazza Della Pescaia in the upper parts of Cortona. Piazza Della Pescaia is a triangular shaped Piazza that is one of the few public spaces in the upper parts of the town. Piazzas like this, surrounded by a mix of residential and commercial units, used to have shops fill the street level while the upstairs remained private residential quarters for the shop owners. Among other trades, ceramics and wood crafting were some activities that would take place in the street level of these houses at the piazza. What was once a lively neighborhood public space, now remains to be empty and filled with unused vacation homes.
